Outdated Lakeside Condo Gets a Luminous Lift
On The Bright Side is a stunning transformation of a lakeside condominium in Saratoga Springs, New York. Working with the homeowner’s inspiration photos and overarching design vision, this cramped 1990s kitchen and adjacent great room become a sleek open-concept main floor that feels like a breath of fresh air. The design combines natural light and picturesque views with contemporary flair and function for renewed spaces sure to impress.
Innovative Design Approach
The project required close collaboration with Betters and Thornquist Contracting Inc., the remodeling contractor on this project. By reworking the kitchen layout and removing support columns, the space was opened to new possibilities. A functional island was introduced, complemented by custom cabinetry with simple lines and black hardware to honor the homeowners’ desire for simplicity and sophistication. The style mirrors that of the refreshed great room, with its stacked travertine floor-to-ceiling fireplace façade. Adding an oversized picture window invites more natural light and showcases scenic lake views, while an updated pantry provides ample storage and organization.
Luxury Finishes and Timeless Style
The final kitchen design features bright white cabinetry paired with locally sourced marble countertops, walnut floating shelves, and wide-plank rustic white oak flooring, for a luminous yet warm transitional aesthetic.
